Bhubaneswar: Forest, Environment and Climate Change Minister Pradip Kumar Amat today inaugurated the 34th State Level Annual Flower Show organised by the Regional Plant Resource Centre (RPRC) in collaboration with the Plant Lovers’ Association at the Botanic Garden in Ekamra Kanan here.
The “Floral Gate” erected at the entry point of the Flower show premises is the central attraction of the event.
A total of 15 firms, 30 nurseries and 16 stalls have exhibited ornamental plants for display and sale. Apart from cut flower display, Orchid and ferns of rare varieties are also on display.
A wide collection of Rose, Dahlia, Seasonal Chrysanthemum, Marigold, Garbera, Zinnia, Astoria, Calendula, Lilium, Gladiolus, Anthurium, Bonsais, Orchids and Succulents are on display.
Footfall is very high at the event this year as it is being held after a gap of two years. The event was not held over the last two years owing to Covid restrictions being in force then.
Minister Amat along with Rajya Sabha Member Sulata Deo and PCCF & Chief Executive, RPRC Pusazhula Mekro visited various flower displays, exhibition stalls and floral arrangements made by the RPRC, Bhubaneswar.
Amat released the Research and Activity Report 2021-22 of RPRC, launched e-Commerce Portal for nursery plants of RPRC and also inaugurated the pop-up irrigation system installed in the compound.
Plant Lovers’ Association president Khirod Pattanaik and secretary P Srinibas, RPRC’s AO Sushree Mohapatra, senior scientists, flower lovers among others were present during the inauguration.
