Keonjhar: A youth, his wife and their minor son sustained varying degrees of injuries when an elephant attacked them in Tekkoi in the tribal-dominated Keonjhar district of Odisha on late Sunday. The incident occurred near Namkani Juang Sahi under the Telkoi forest range.
The victims have been identified as Satya Dehuri, his wife Rashmita and minor son Dinabandhu, inhabitants of Rodong village under Kankadahad police limits in Dhenkanal district.
According to reports, the condition of the youth, Satya Dehuri, is critical. All three injured were rushed to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
According to reports Satya Dehuri and his family visited Kedar Mahant of Namkani and later visited a local fair called Bimla Makar Yatra. When they were returning home, the elephant attacked Rashmita and then Satya Dehuri and his minor son.
On being informed, Forest officials reached the spot and rescued the seriously injured family and rushed them to Telkoi Community Health Centre (CHC).
Later, the injured to the district headquarters hospital as their condition deteriorated. Finally, they were shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital.
