Nuapada: Odisha Vigilance sleuths arrested Khariar BDO Narayan Sahoo on Wednesday night for allegedly amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Vigilance Court of Special Judge, Bolangir, sent Sahoo to judicial custody till January 31.
Earlier, Odisha Vigilance registered a case against Sahoo and his wife under Sections 13(2) r/w 13(1)(b)/12 PC Act.
During a raid at various premises linked to Sahoo on January 17, Vigilance unearthed moveable and unmoveable assets 106% more than his known source of income. The raids revealed that Sahoo owned several land/plots in and around Balangir, possessed cash worth Rs 3.99 lakh and had bank and insurance deposits worth over Rs 13.49 lakh
The Vigilance sleuths also seized 764-gram gold jewellery and 720-gram silver ornaments worth over Rs 36 lakh from his possession, besides a four-wheeler worth Rs 14.38 lakh, two two-wheelers and household articles worth over Rs 7 lakh.
