Bhubaneswar: Miscreants looted valuables from the government quarters of former National Hockey captain Prabodh Tirkey. According to reports, the burglary took place at Tirkey’s quarter (VR-86) at Unit VI, when no one was at home on Friday.
While Tirkey was away in Rourkela, one of the host cities of the mega tournament, to watch match, his mother had gone to their native village in Sundargarh when the loot took place. Tirkey said that his medals, TV, computer and gold ornaments among other valuables were looted from the quarter.
Tirkey got to know about the burglary from domestic help. A complaint has been registered by police in this connection.
Tirkey was the national captain of sub-junior, junior and India-A team and finally became the India senior team captain. He was in the Indian team which won the 2007 Asia Cup.
