Nabarangpur: Police have arrested a hardcore woman Maoist and her associate during a search operation inside Hatigaon reserve forest under Raighar block in Nabarangpur district in the wee hours today.
The arrested woman Maoist has been identified as Unga Mandvi (Anita), informed Deputy Inspector General of Police (South-Western Range) Rajesh Pandit addressing a press conference here today.
Pandit said Unga is a member of the Area Committee of the Nuapada-Mainpur Division of the CPI (Maoist).
He said that Unga a native of Sukuma in neighbouring Chhattisgarh has been associated with the Maoist organisation for the last 10 years.
She was nabbed during a search operation while she was moving around inside Hatigaon reserve forest under Raighar block at around 5 AM today, he added.
Unga has several cases against her name in various police stations and had played an active role in Maoist activities in the districts of Nuapada and Kalahandi, the DIG said. She will be forwarded to court today, he added.
Nabarangpur SP S Sushree was present during the press conference.
