Bhubaneswar: Two Odisha Police personnel received the prestigious President’s Police Medal (PPM) for distinguished service on the occasion of Republic Day, 2023.
The two Odisha cops who were awarded the President’s Police Medal are Dhirendra Sambhaji Kutey, special secretary of CMO, and Prahallad Rout, constable Vigilance Directorate, Cuttack. Rout and Kutey are among the 901 police personnel who have been honoured with the President’s Police Medal on the occasion of Republic Day, 2023.
Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG) has been awarded to 140 police personnel, President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service (PPM) to 93 cops and Police Medal for Meritorious Service (PM) to 668 police personnel.
The Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG) is awarded for Conspicuous Gallantry in saving life and property, in preventing crime or in arresting criminals. The President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service (PPM) is awarded for a specially distinguished record in police service and President’s Police Medal for Meritorious Service (PM) is awarded for valuable service characterised by resource and devotion to duty.
Eleven police personnel from Odisha who have been awarded President’s Police Medal this year include Himanshu Bhusan Swain, ACP, Bhubaneswar; Jatindra Kumar Panda, Additional SP, Bhadrak; Pradyumna Mishra, Additional SP, Bhadrak; Sudhanshu Sekhar Pujari, DSP, Vigilance, Sundargarh; Gyanendra Kumar Das, Deputy Commandant BPSPA, Bhubaneswar; Arun Balliarsingh, Inspector, Bhubaneswar, Security Wing; Jugal Kishore Pradhan, SI, Berhampur Vigilance Division; Sarwordin Khan, Constable, Nuapatna, Cuttack; B. Bhusan Mohanty, ASI Of Police (Computer) SCRB, Bhubaneswar; Anil Kumar Minz. Drill Inspector, Bhubaneswar; and Pradeep Kumar Behera, Sepoy, 4th Battalion, Rourkela.
