Rayagada: Panic prevailed in the Kalyansinghpur block Rajangiri of Odisha’s Rayagada district after the residents discovered Maoist posters at four places appealing to the people to boycott the Republic Day celebrations on Thursday.
The posters, one of which was put up on the wall of the panchayat office asked the people to boycott the Republic Day celebrations as, according to the extremists, there was no democracy in the country. “Democracy is for the rich, not for the poor,” the posters read.
The police, meanwhile, stepped up security arrangements and no untoward incident was reported from the region.
The police have launched a probe into the matter.
