Crime Branch Team Led By ADG Arrives In Jharsuguda, Proceeds To Spot Of Firing

Jharsuguda: A special investigation team of the Crime Branch, led by Additional DGP Crime Branch, Arun Bothra flew from Bhubaneswar to Jharsuguda today evening to lead the probe into the incident of firing at Health Minister Naba Kisore Das.

Bothra was received by IG Sambalpur Deepak Kumar and SP Jharsuguda Rahul Jain at the airport here. The senior cop proceeded straight to Gandhi Chowk in Brajarajnagar where the Minister was shot at.

On the other hand, a forensic team of the Crime Branch and the agency’s officials have already started investigation at the crime scene following orders of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, minutes after the tragedy.

The bullet capsules, blood sample and other incriminating evidence were collected from the spot and sent for examination. Bothra will be leading the probe from the spot of crime which has sent shockwaves across the country.

The Crime Branch informed that it has taken over the investigation into this case registered by Brajarajnagar police. A seven members special Investigating team comprising Cyber Expert, Ballistic Expert and officers of Crime Branch has been formed.

The team is led by Deputy SP, Ramesh Chandra Dora. “He along with a Ballastics expert reached Jharsuguda by a helicopter to immediately start the investigation pending arrival of other team members.”

Bothra has also accompanied them to personally supervise and monitor the investigation, the CB stated adding that the agency has registered a case under Sections 307 of the IPC and Section 27 of the Arms Act.
