Bhubaneswar: Governor Ganeshi Lal and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik paid their last respects to Health Minister Naba Kishore Das at his official residence here on Monday.
The deceased minister was also accorded State Honour. His mortal remains will be taken in a chopper to his native place in Jharsuguda for cremation, where he will be accorded a funeral with State Honour.
The Chief Minister also consoled members of the bereaved family.
Earlier in the day, doctors at the Capital Hospital here completed the post-mortem of deceased Odisha Health Minister Naba Kishore Das on Monday in the presence of the forensic and Crime Branch teams. The entire autopsy has been filmed.
According to reports, Naba Das’ mortal mains will be taken from Bhubaneswar to his residence at Jharsuguda at around 11 am on Monday. Later in the day, his mortal remains will be taken in procession to his native village Kherual village for the last rites with full State Honour.
Naba Kishore Das succumbed to bullet injuries at a private hospital the previous day after being shot at by a policeman in Brajarajnagar in Jharsuguda district.
Three Ministers of the Odisha government will attend the funeral today on behalf of the government.
As per the decision, the national flag will be flown at half-mast in the state capital and on the day of the funeral at the place where the funeral will take place. Besides, there will not be any official entertainment for three days from January 29 to 31.
