Jharsuguda: Former Odisha Health Minister and Jharsuguda MLA Naba Kisore Das was consigned to flames at Kherual here on Monday. His son, Bishal Das lit the funeral pyre in the presence of thousands of supporters of the late Leader.
Das’ body was taken in a procession to Odisha Assembly last night and then to his official quarters at Unit 6 area of Bhubaneswar. The remains were then taken to the BJD party office from where they were taken on a special flight to Jharsuguda.
Thousands of his supporters gathered for a last glimpse of the leader. Das’ body was then taken to Manmohan school field in a procession and finally to Kherual where he was consigned to flames with full State honours.
Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday declared a three-day State mourning after Das’ demise.
