Bhubaneswar: Seven players from Odisha have been selected for the Women’s Premier League 2023 auction at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai on February 13. According to the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA), the shortlisted women players are Madhuri Mehera, Rasanara Pawwin, Kajal Jena, SB Lorence, Sujata Mallick, Priyanka Priyadarshini Sahoo and Sushree Dibyadarshini.
A total of 409 cricketers have been shortlisted for the Women’s Premier League Player auction. Initially, 1,525 women cricketers registered themselves for the inaugural Women’s Premier League Player Auction and the final list has the names of 409 players.
Out of 409 women cricketer’s in the final auction list, 246 are Indians and 163 are overseas players. While 202 are capped players, 199 players are uncapped. A maximum of 90 slots are available with the five teams, with 30 slots reserved for overseas players.
The inaugural edition of the Women’s Premier League will be played in Mumbai from March 4 to 26. Twenty-two matches will be played at the Brabourne Stadium and DY Patil Stadium.
