Puri: In an agonising incident, two persons were killed and 15 others sustained critical injuries as a car, an auto-rickshaw and a motorbike collided on the Puri-Konark Marine Drive this morning. The condition of four others is said to be critical.
The auto-rickshaw driver died on the spot, while the other deceased have been identified as Amulu, a woman from Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh.
According to sources, the vehicles were moving at high speed when the accident occurred near the Hemalata Engineering College. The impact of the collision was so great that both vehicles overturned on the spot. The car was carrying tourists from Puri to Konark.
On being informed, police reached the spot and rushed all injured persons to the District Headquarters Hospital in Puri. Doctors declared two of the injured as ‘brought dead’. About 15 others are undergoing treatment now.
