Jeypore: An undertrial prisoner lodged in the Jeypore Sub-Jail in Odisha’s Koraput district died under mysterious circumstances on Friday. The deceased has been identified as Kamalho Lochan Jaksena, a resident of Siadimal village in the Jeypore block of the district.
Kamalho, who is facing charges of murder and rape, has been staying in Jeypore Sub-Jail for the last four years.
Kamalho was taken to the Jeypore District Headquarters Hospital on Friday morning, but the doctors there declared him brought dead. The deceased’s family members said that they received a call from the jail authorities around 5.00 am on Friday informing them about Kamalho’s death.
The precise cause of the undertrial’s death is yet to be ascertained.
Meanwhile, an undertrial prisoner of Choudwar Circle Jail in Cuttack district breathed his last in a hospital on Thursday. The deceased has been identified as Trinath Behera and was brought to Choudwar Jail in January 2023.
