Bhubaneswar: Amid the ongoing tension at Bamra railway station in Sambalpur district, the Indian Railways has come up with a clarification over stoppages.

In a video message, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Chakradharpur Division, Arun Rathod said that 11 pairs of (total 22) trains have their scheduled stoppages at Bamra station.

“Do not fall prey to rumours. All the 11 pairs trains are stopping at Bamra, and the reservations are also being done at the station’s counter,” Rathod said.

Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO), East Coast Railway (ECoR), Biswajit Sahu echoed the DRM and appealed to the public to shun rumours.

“In some section of the media, it has been reported that reservations counters at Bamra have been closed. This is a false news. The station, under Chakradharpur division of South Eastern Railway, is fully functional,” Sahu said.

“The reservation counters at Bamra station is open and people can reserve their tickets there.”

Speaking about stoppages of trains at Bamra, the ECoR CPRO said that prior to COVID outbreak, 16 pairs of trains were halting at Bamra.

At present, 11 (pairs of) trains are halting at Bamra. Out of these, four trains have received approval recently. These are: Rajendra Nagar – Durg Express, Rourkela – Bhubaneswar Express, Ahmedabad – Howrah Express, and Puri – Rishikesh Express.

We expect that rest of the 5 pairs of trains is very likely to have their stoppages at Bamra. The discussions are on. Do not believe in rumours and cooperate with the Indian Railways,” appealed Sahu.
