Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance sleuths have unearthed assets worth crores of rupees including 2 multistoried buildings, 1 flat, 11 plots, etc during simultaneous searches on the properties of Ajay Kumar Senapati, Assistant Engineer, R & B Division-II, Balasore.
The anti-corruption agency conducted the searches at the properties of Senapati today on the basis of allegation of possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. The agency conducted searches at 7 places in Puri, Khurdha & Balasore districts including his office chamber and official government quarters at Balasore, said an official press release.
Seven teams of the Vigilance led by 4 DSPs, 10 Inspectors, 2 Sub Inspectors and other staff conducted the searches on the strength of Search Warrants issued by the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar, the release added.
During searches so far, the following movable and immovable assets worth crores of rupees have been unearthed in the name of Senapati and his family members:1) Triple storeyed building located at Harachandi sahi, Puri; 2) Double storeyed building located at Kulakandhei, Chilika, District Khordha; 3) One 1-BHK Flat in 2nd Floor of Ananya Palm Beach, Puri; 4) 11 Plots in and around Bhubaneswar, Puri & Chilika (The Registered Sale Deed (RSD) value comes to over Rs 30.52 Lakhs. However, the actual value is likely to be much higher. Undervaluation of the plots during registration is suspected. A thorough probe has been initiated in this regard); 5) Bank, Postal & Insurance deposits worth approx Rs 1.09 Crore; 6) Gold jewellery 323 gms worth Rs 10.65 Lakh; 7) Cash Rs.1,22,500; 8) 1 four wheeler (TATA Nexon XZ) worth Rs11,24,900; 9) 3 two wheelers worth Rs 2.01 Lakh; 10) Household articles worth over Rs.8.18 Lakh.
The measurement and valuation/assessment of the above buildings/ flat is being carried out by Vigilance Technical Wing.
Senapati is being examined to ascertain the source of the assets. Further searches are continuing. Unearthing of more assets is likely and overall valuation is likely to increase, the release said.
