Nayagarh: Nayagarh Childline on Friday stopped the marriage of a 15-year-old girl in Sarankul area of the district. According to reports, the wedding was organised at a temple in Badhi Sahi at Sarankul. A local shared the information about child marriage with Childline following which a team was dispatched to the spot.
The wedding was disrupted and the parents of the girl were counselled by the Childline personnel. The minor girl, studying in Std IX was taken to the Child Welfare Committee where her statement was recorded. Later she was left in the custody of CWC at Sakhi Centre.
