Malkangiri: Three jawans of the Distict Reserve Group (DRG) were killed in an encounter with the left wing extremists in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh on Saturday.
The encounter with the LWE militants took place at Ashrampara in Jagargunda area of Sukma. Both sides came under heavy firing during which six to seven militants of the banned PLGA were killed, SP Sukma, Sunil Sharma said.
No injuries have been reported, but three DRG Jawans lost their lives in the fierce gunfight with the PLGA ultras, the SP added.
The bodies of the deceased jawans have been brought to the Sukma district police headquarters from Jagargunda in a chopper. All the soldiers are back in the camp, and are safe, added Sharma.
