Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government announced on Wednesday that it launch a recruitment drive to appoint 20,000 junior teachers.
“Extensive steps have been taken by the School and Mass Education (S&ME) department for the recruitment of teaching and non-teaching staff. About 20,000 vacant posts of junior teachers in primary schools will be filled up,” the state I&PR department tweeted on Wednesday.
The department further states that initiatives will be taken to fill up 7,540 posts of secondary teachers and 6,025 Leave and Training Reserve (LTR) teachers. According to reports, trained candidates will be engaged as junior teachers to impart quality education to students in primary schools.
At the same time, the state government has approved the relaxation of the residency period to facilitate the promotion of 54,000 senior teachers and headmasters in Odisha.
Meanwhile, the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) has already initiated the process to recruit 335 teachers in higher secondary schools. The government will also recruit 1,543 Post Graduate Teachers (PGTs) in fully-aided higher secondary schools.
In the first phase, the Service Selection Board (SSB) has already begun the process of appointing 555 PGTs.
