Bhubaneswar: The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) raided a house in the Sigra police station area on Wednesday on the basis of spurious drugs seized in Bargarh and Jharsuguda districts of Odisha and inputs provided by Odisha Health and Family Welfare Department to the Government of Uttar Pradesh and seized all such medicines that were supplied to pharmaceutical distributors in Odisha.
The medical items were seized from the possession of one Ashok Kumar, a resident of Bulandshahar under the Secunderabad police station. The Uttar Pradesh STF has arrested Ashok Kumar.
Acting on the confession of the accused, the STF raided another godown under Lahartara police station limits and seized spurious drugs worth Rs 7.35 crore.
An FIR has been registered in this connection and the STF is interrogating the accused. According to sources, they have busted one of the biggest spurious drug rackets and recovered cash amounting to Rs 4 lakh during the raids.
