Angul: Mystery shrouds the death of Balakrishna Nayak, Sarpanch of Ambapal village under Sadar police station limits in Odisha’s Angul district.
Like any other day, Balakrishna had his dinner on Saturday night and went to sleep at his chicken farm located a few yards from his house. Late that night, some miscreants arrived at the farm and called Balakrishna’s name. When Balakrishna came out of his bed, they pushed an injection into his arm and fled the scene.
The injection caused a burning sensation in Balakrishna’s body and he started vomiting profusely. Soon, he dropped to the ground unconscious.
When his family members learned what had happened to Balakrishna, they rushed him to Angul Hospital and, as his condition deteriorated, he was taken to a medical facility in Cuttack. However, Balakrishna breathed his last on the way to Cuttack.
Interestingly, his family members found two syringes and discovered a handwritten letter addressed to Balakrishna lying on his bedside at the chicken farm. The letter read, “This was to happen on January 25, since you refused to follow my order. Today, you are being a martyr for your village.”
The mode of murder, the letter and the two syringes recovered from Balakrishna’s farm have perplexed the Angul Sadar police. They are yet to ascertain the motive behind the murder or trace the criminals.
Meanwhile, the police have launched an investigation into Balakrishna’s death and a manhunt for the criminals.
