Bhubaneswar: Speaker Bikram Keshari Arukha adjourned the Odisha Assembly for the second time on Thursday till 4.00 pm after it met for the second phase of the Budget Session on Friday. The House witnessed a ruckus with the Opposition BJP and Congress members disrupting the proceedings over the slain Health Minister Naba Das’ murder probe.
Earlier, the House was adjourned from 10.32 am to 11.00 am owing to pandemonium soon after the House assembled for business. The ruckus started by the Opposition BJP and Congress members made it impossible for Speaker to conduct business.
Soon after the House assembled for the second phase of the Budget Session, Congress members started rushing to the Well of the House shouting slogans demanding a probe into the Health Minister Naba Kishore Das murder case under the supervision of a sitting judge of the Orissa High Court. Congress MLA Suresh Kumar Routrai demanded that the people of Odisha have the right to know the ‘conspirators’ who killed Naba Das.
Congress MLA Tara Prasad demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on the issue. He said that though his party had demanded an SIT probe into the crime, the state government did not agree.
