Bhubaneswar: As many as 12 districts of Odisha are likely to witness rain and thunderstorm till March 19. According to a bulletin released by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), thunderstorms with lightening and gusty surface wind reaching up to 40-50kmph are very likely to occur at one or two places in Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh, Angul, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj on Thursday.
Besides, thunderstorms with lightning are likely to occur at one or two places over the remaining districts of Odisha today.
Along with the rain, the wind speed will be between 40 and 50 km per hour owing to western disturbances. A yellow alert has been issued for various coastal districts that are likely to experience heavy rain.
A low-pressure line extends from West Ganga and Himalayan foothills to south Odisha. As a result, more western storms are likely, the IMD said.
The maximum temperature (day temperature) is likely to drop by 2-3°C at many places in Odisha during the next four to five days due to the rainfall activities.
