Jajpur: In a tragic incident a girl student of Jajati Keshari High School in Dasarathpur block of Odisha’s Jajpur district reportedly committed suicide on Sunday night fearing that she did not perform well in the recently-concluded matriculation exams.
The victim has been identified as Rashmibala Pahil. She reportedly committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling fan in her room.
According to reports, Rashmi appeared for her matriculation exam at the Jajpur Municipal High School. She was under tremendous pressure from her family members for not doing well in her last two papers.
Ranshmi’s elder brother Prasanta Kumar Pahil told the media that his sister was depressed as she was scolded by her family members for not answering her papers well. “We discovered her body hanging in her room around 10.30 pm and rushed her to Jajpur General Hospital. However, the doctors declared her brought dead.”
On being informed, the police reached the hospital and sent the body for post-mortem. The police are investing in the case to ascertain why the student took such a drastic step.
