Bhubaneswar: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who is on a three-day visit to Odisha, is scheduled to meet her Odisha counterpart Naveen Patnaik at his residence Naveen Niwas at 4.30 pm on Thursday.
Chief Ministers of two neighbouring states are expected to hold discussions on various issues, including the construction of a West Bengal guesthouse at Puri.
Soon after Mamata arrived in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday evening, she left for Puri and spent two days there. She visited the site for the proposed West Bengal guesthouse in Puri site and held discussions with Odisha Chief Secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena and the Puri district Collector there.
On Wednesday evening, Mamata visited the Jagannath Temple and offered prayers to Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra.
Speaking to reporters regarding her Odisha visit, Banerjee said, “Naveen Patnaik ji had invited me to the Hockey Men’s World Cup event but I could not come for personal reasons. I told him that I would meet Naveen Babu whenever I visit Odisha.”
The meeting between Banerjee and Patnaik has caught the attention of political pundits, who feel that the two leaders may also discuss political issues as the Lok Sabha elections are due in early 2024.
Banerjee is scheduled to return to Kolkata later in the evening.
