Bhubaneswar: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee made a courtesy call on her Odisha counterpart Naveen Patnaik at the latter’s residence Naveen Niwas today.
Patnaik welcomed Banerjee by presenting her with a Sri Anga Vastra of Mahaprabhu. He also presented Mamata with replicas of three chariots of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra, a piece of filigree work and chhenapoda.
Similarly, Banerjee presented a shawl prepared by Biswa Bangla to Patnaik.
She also paid respect to Biju Babu and Gyan Patnaik by offering a Jamdani saree on their photograph.
During the meeting, Patnaik as a goodwill gesture on behalf of the people of Odisha gifted a two-acre piece of land to the Government of West Bengal for the construction of a guesthouse in Puri.
Secretary to CM (5T) VK Pandian was present during the discussion.
Banerjee, who was on a three-day visit to Odisha, on Wednesday visited Jagannath temple in Puri and offered prayers.
She also made a field visit to a proposed site identified by the Odisha government for the construction of a guest house for the accommodation of tourists visiting Jagannath Dham from West Bengal.
The site is located at Sipasarubali near the site earmarked for the Puri international airport.
