Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is likely to visit Japan in the first week of April with a view to wooing investments. According to reports, during his Japan visit, the Chief Minister will focus on the sectors where prominent Japanese firms can invest in Odisha.
After Rome and Dubai, the Chief Minister is embarking on the land of the sunrise to seek foreign investments, especially in the technology sector. Economists here are of the view that Patnaik’s proposed Japan visit is likely to be very successful as Odisha has good trade and cultural relations with the Pacific nation, which was the country partner in the 2018 ‘Make in Odisha Conclave’.
It is learnt that the Chief Minister and his team will enlighten the Japanese investors about the vast opportunities for them in Odisha, especially in the fields of tourism, food processing, mining, IT and others. The new industrial policy of Odisha and the various facilities offered to the investors by the state government in all sectors will be highlighted during discussions with potential Japanese investors.
Earlier, Japanese representatives joined and strengthened trade relations with Odisha during the 2018 ‘Make in Odisha’ conclave. Hence, it is expected that the Chief Minister’s Japan visit will bring significant investments to Odisha.
In August 2022, the Chief Minister held discussions with the ambassadors of 30 countries in Delhi to draw investment to the state. Now the Chief Minister is making every effort to bring more capital from abroad. Odisha is among the top three states in the country in drawing capital from abroad and, hence, the Chief Minister’s visit to Japan is likely to be very successful.
