Film Producer Arrested For Duping Asst Professor

Bhubaneswar: Twin City Police today arrested film producer Ajitav Mallik on charges of duping an Assistant Professor of Ravenshaw University, Cuttack, of Rs 85 lakh on the pretext of selling her a duplex.

The victim paid Mallik the amount in multiple instalments for a duplex worth Rs 1 crore at Kolathia in the city in 2020. However, Mallik went incommunicado and did not sell the property to the woman.

She alleged that she was threatened with dire consequences and also forced to sell off her gold ornaments. The woman lodged a complaint with Khandagiri police against him and is family members

They have duped other people too and used the money for producing film and opening a restaurant in Hyderabad. Ajitav had produced 2021 Odia film ‘Arundhati’ and had also acted in it.
