Jajpur: Two persons were killed in the wee hours of Wednesday after a trailer rammed into the rear of a stationary truck on the National Highway No. 16 near Balukhai in Odisha’s Jajpur district.
According to reports, the accident took place at around 4.00 am today when a trailer broke down and hit a truck from behind. As a result, the front cabin of the trailer caught fire and the driver was severely burnt. He succumbed to his burn injuries on the spot.
The helper of the trailer also sustained burn injuries and was being rushed to Cuttack for treatment. However, he died on the way due to asphyxiation.
On being informed, Fire Services from Chandikhol rushed to the spot and doused the blaze. A team from Dharmchaya reached the accident spot and launched an investigation into the incident.
The identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained.
