Bhubaneswar: The State government is organizing ‘Odisha Skill Conclave 2023’ with the theme ‘Skilling for the New World’ on April 20-22 at the Kalinga Stadium here to further promote ‘Skilled-in-Odisha’ brand and to make the youth of the state skilled and employable not only inside the country but also abroad, informed Preetiranjan Gharai, Minister, SDTE.
Addressing a presser at the Geeta Gobinda Sadan here today, Gharai said that through this conclave, the Government strives to engage with delegates comprising Industry, Academia, Training Partners, Sector Skills Councils, International Organizations, Country Specific Representatives and Skill Ambassadors from the State.
It is an apt platform to deliberate, build consensus, and develop a road map for future courses of action to develop Odisha as a skilled workforce hub for the New World, Gharai stated.
The Conclave shall provide a unique opportunity to display Odisha’s achievements in skilling, conducive ambience and the vast existing and emerging opportunities across sectors, he added.
The Conclave will be inaugurated on April 20 and the inaugural day shall see a plenary session discussion on relevant topics e.g.- Building a coherent Skill Ecosystem in India, Commendation of Skilled Manpower, etc, the Minister said.
Similarly, on 21st April discussion on important topics e.g.- Making India the Skill Capital of the World, Empowering Women through Skills shall take place. A special session and exhibit on drone technology as well as a discussion on the role of Sector Skill Councils is planned for 22nd April, the Minister added.
Gharai pointed out that under the visionary guidance of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, has taken various transformational initiatives for setting up a progressive ecosystem to facilitate Industries Sector growth through policy reforms, infrastructure development, skilling etc.
Under the dynamic leadership of our Chief Minister, ‘Skilled-in-Odisha’ has been recognized as a global brand in the TVET eco-system, Gharai said adding that this aspirational vision of the State and untiring efforts of all stakeholders have enabled a ‘Skilled-in-Odisha’ trainee to win the first ever Gold Medal from India at the World Skills Competition, 2019.
Speaking at the presser, Principal Secretary, SDTE Usha Padhi said that the event will see participation from renowned international and national dignitaries/ intellectuals/ industry representatives active in skilling in the plenary discussions.
The event will also witness a congregation of 2000+ students, and 1000+ delegates from the industry/ academia/ Government sector.
The event will host 100+ exhibits from ITIs/ Polytechnics/ Engineering Colleges/Universities as well as from prominent industries and other Departments of Government.
The Conclave will also see the signing of various vital MoUs with industry partners regarding skilling in the state.
To create awareness on the event new and unique ‘Pathapranta Utsava’ has been planned on Janpath in Bhubaneswar.
Cultural events have also been planned for the 20th and 21st evenings to display the rich heritage of Odisha and its advancement in skilling as well as to entertain all visitors.
A curtain-raiser for the Conclave was organized on 6th April in New Delhi for creating promotions. Another curtain-raiser is planned on 11th April in Bhubaneswar for creating a buzz in the state, said Padhi.
