Balasore: Unidentified miscreants attacked Loknath Rout, vice chairperson of Soro Municipality, in Telanga Katuri near the Soro police station on Tuesday morning. The miscreants fled the area after committing the crime.
According to reports, Rout was out for his regular morning walk when two unidentified bike-borne miscreants hit him with a sharp-edged weapon from behind, injuring him critically.
A critically injured Raut was rushed to Soro Hospital and later shifted to Balasore Hospital (DHH) but later shifted as his condition worsened.
Rout’s wife is the vice president of BJP’s Soro unit and a councillor. It is alleged that the attack was a fall-out of political enmity.
