Paradip: The two-day coastal security exercise ‘Sagar Kavach’ was launched here today.
Over 18 departments including the Indian Navy, the Indian Coast Guard, the Marine Police, Fisheries Department, Customs, Paradip Port Authority, Forest Department, Fire Service Department, CISF, Intelligence, and local fishermen, etc. are taking part in the exercise.
The main purpose of the exercise is to carry out the exercise on the coast of Paradip this year, just like every year after the 26/11 Mumbai attacks.
The exercise is being carried out to prevent a repeat of the Mumbai attacks by sea.
It will run for two days, with red and blue forces being formed to infiltrate and prevent attacks.
The red forces comprising personnel from various departments will infiltrate the coast through sea and attack various crowded places and important installations and the blue team will foil such attacks during the security drill.
The security drill aims at bringing coordination between different agencies to tackle external enemy forces.
The security exercise which started at 6 AM today will end at 7 PM tomorrow.
Today morning Blue Forces captured four suspects of the Red Forces and seized four live bombs from them and handed them over to the Paradip Marine Police.
Further, Blue Forces are raiding various places on the sea and land.
