Bhubaneswar: Gone are the days when a harsh summer in Bhubaneswar was when the mercury shot beyond 30°C. With climate change and global warming, a characteristic harsh summer day in the capital now is when the temperature soars to 40°C. This year, the day temperatures in the capital city have already soared beyond 30°C by 8.30 am for three consecutive days and on Tuesday the highest day temperature recorded here was 40.7°C Meteorologists predict temperatures to go as high as 49°C when the sun is overhead.
