Bhubaneswar: Chief Secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena, Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary Anu Garg, and Secretary to CM(5T) VK Pandian visited the Bagchi Sri Shankara Cancer Centre & Research Institute located in Info Valley here on Wednesday.
Taking part in the housewarming ceremony of the hospital building, the Chief Secretary and Secretary to CM(5T) had a long discussion over the hospital’s construction and preparation with the Chairman of Odisha Skill Development Authority Subroto Bagchi and the hospital’s founder and Chief Trustee Dr Srinath. They visited the different departments of the hospital.
During the visit among others, Commissioner-cum-Secretary Mission Shakti, Commissioner-cum-Secretary Health Shalini Pandit, and Chairperson, Mo School, Susmita Bagchi were present.
Dr Srinath informed the visitors that the construction work has been completed within a year and a quarter. He said that it was possible due to the encouragement of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for the establishment of a cancer hospital and the state government’s support.
Bagchi said that as per the earlier announced schedule, the hospital will admit the first patient on the occasion of the Rath Yatra.
He said that they aim to provide a temple visit-like experience to patients visiting this hospital.
Chief Secretary Jena, while expressing his satisfaction over the progress made in the hospital, said that steps will be taken to provide whatever assistance is required for the hospital.
