Bhubaneswar: The BJP on Wednesday announced Tankadhar Tripathy as the party’s candidate for the Jharsuguda Assembly bye-elections.
Tripathy’s nomination was evident, as party leaders had indicated that he is very likely to be fielded in the upcoming bypolls.
Tripathy has been a student activist and rose through the ranks to be the Secretary of the saffron party’s state unit.
In November 2021, he was appointed as Director of South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL).
In a press note issued by BJP’s National General Secretary Arun Singh, Tripathy’s name was formally announced at 11:15 pm on Wednesday.
The BJP candidate will lock horns with BJD’s Deepali Das and Congress’ candidate Tarun Pandey in the Jharsuguda bypolls scheduled on May 10.
