Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has devised a new learning programme for school students in the state during the forthcoming summer vacation.
The new learning programme will be introduced for the first time in the state. The programme has been named ‘Abasarakalina Sikshya’ roughly translated to English as vacation education programme.
Sharing the information with reporters, School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash said that this vacation education programme will be unique and the first of its kind in the state.
The programme will immensely benefit the students in their careers, Dash added.
The Minister said that a special syllabus has been prepared for this learning programme, which is scheduled to commence on May 4 and is marked in the school calendar as the date for the commencement of summer vacation.
He said students of a particular class will be split into different groups. The activities of every group will be monitored by a teacher, he added.
The Minister said that the teacher concerned will discuss with the students and their parents over the phone to keep track of the progress made in their studies.
They will find out whether the students are studying the lessons as per the vacation syllabus specially prepared for the purpose.
The vacation education programme has been developed to make up for the learning loss in the past two years due to the Covid pandemic and keep the students engaged in their studies rather than waste their time on frivolous activities, said a source close to the development.
