Bhubaneswar: An Assistant Executive Engineer with the National Highway (NH) Division, Jharsuguda, was on Thursday caught by the Vigilance while accepting a bribe of Rs 27,000, the anti-corruption agency informed.
According to information, the agency acted on the complaint of a contractor from whom, the Assistant EE, Sanjukta Singha had allegedly demanded Rs 27,000 for releasing a payment.
The entire bribe money was recovered from the Assistant EE and seized. Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at three locations, the Vigilance stated.
In this connection, Rourkela Vigilance has registered a case under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act. An investigation is in progress.
