Bargarh: The Commissionerate Police today arrested a groom during his wedding on charges of cheating another girl on the pretext of marriage. The incident has been reported from Beherapalli village under Bhatli police limits here.
The groom has been identified as Ajit Kumar Bhoi of Parjang area in Dhenkanal. A girl has accused Bhoi of cheating on the pretext of marriage and lodged a complaint with Mahila Police.
Based on the complaint lodged by the victim, a team of Bhatli and Commissionerate Police raided the marriage venue and picked up Bhoi soon after the ‘Batabarana’ ritual.
The bride’s family has reportedly bought a car to give it as dowry to Bhoi. The police have forwarded the groom to court following a medical examination, the police said.
