Minor Boy Killed In Lightning Strike In Nayagarh, 2 Others Critical

Nayagarh: A minor boy was killed and two others were critically injured in a lightning strike today at Bhalukhai village under Fatehgarh police limits of Nayagarh district.

The deceased has been identified as Sarbeswar Nayak (10).

The critically injured have been identified as Patita Nayak (42) and Chandan Nayak (12). They have been shifted to a hospital in Bhubaneswar as their health condition deteriorated.

According to reports, a large number of people in Bhalukhai village today afternoon had gathered to watch the digging of a pond using an excavator in their village.

Suddenly, there was a thunderstorm forcing people to take shelter under a tree.

Sarbeswar, Chandan, and Patita had taken shelter under a tree when lightning struck them.

While Sarbeswar died on the spot, Chandan and Patita were critically injured.

They were rushed to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Bhapur where doctors declared Sarbeswar dead and the other two were referred to a hospital in Bhubaneswar after first aid as their condition deteriorated.
