Cuttack: Mangalabag police in Cuttack City have arrested a fraudster who by claiming himself to be a ‘Tantrik’ had allegedly looted money from several people from Cuttack, Bhadrak, and other places of the state by telling them that their houses have hidden treasures of gold, silver and other valuables.
Police have seized two luxury cars, one motorcycle, Rs 2.76 lakh in cash, several new mobile phones, and various other articles from his possession.
The accused has been identified as Maulana Kaifi of Kesharpur area under Mangalabag police limits.
Addressing a presser, Cuttack DCP Pinak Mishra told that following a complaint by one Sharmila Sen of Mangalabag area against Maulana at the DCP office, the latter was arrested.
Mishra said that Maulana first traps his gullible victims by promising them of hidden treasures in their houses and then fleeces them of their money.
