Bhubaneswar: The regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) here Monday issued a yellow warning for rain in 21 districts of Odisha today.
The weather bulletin of the IMD said thunderstorms with lightening, hail, and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places in Gajapati, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, and Sambalpur districts today.
Thunderstorm accompanied by lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places in Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Sundargarh districts of the state.
The bulletin further said that several districts of Odisha are likely to receive rainfall under the influence of Kalbaisakhi for the next four days.
According to reports, a low-pressure line extending from south Chhattisgarh to the Arabian Sea and a high-pressure line are active over Odisha and the coastal areas. As a result, a sufficient amount of water vapor is entering the state. However, there is unlikely to be any significant change in temperature for the next four days.
