Bhubaneswar: The Agharia Samaj is a major community in western Odisha. People of this society who depend on agriculture are mainly settled in Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundergarh, Kalahandi, Balangir and Deogarh districts.
They recently met Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik regarding their various issues. They requested the Chief Minister to give them a place near Bhubaneswar as they were having trouble staying when they came to Bhubaneswar for various events.
In view of their request and the larger interests of the Agharia community, the Chief Minister has announced that half acre of land will be provided for the Agharia community near Bhubaneswar.
For this, the Chief Minister has instructed the Principal Secretary to take steps towards identifying the land.
Along with this, he announced that Rs 3 crore will be provided from the Chief Minister’s Special Assistance Fund for the construction of Agharia Samaj Bhawan.
