Nayagarh: Members of an enforcement team that raided an illegal mining hub in Kushpalla village under Ranpur tehsil of Odisha’s Nayagarh district on Wednesday evening were attacked by mining mafia, who forcibly took with them an impounded vehicle, loaded with stone chips. The mafia also allegedly attempted to kill the driver of the vehicle transporting the enforcement team.
According to reports, 20 members of the stone chip mafia attacked an enforcement team led by Ranpur Additional Tehsildar when it went to Kushpalla village to raid an illegal stone mine. One member of the enforcement team, Sudam Chandra Behera who had fallen behind while leaving the spot was injured in the attack.
The enforcement team seized a live bullet, a truck laden with stones, and a cutter from the spot.
The Chandpur police have registered a case in this connection on the basis of a complaint filed by Rangpur Tehsildar. The injured members of the enforcement team are undergoing treatment at the Chandpur Basant Manjari Health Centre.
