Bhubaneswar: In 2022-23, a record amount of food grains was produced in Odisha. According to the third advance estimate by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment, it has been estimated that 136.06 lakh metric tonnes of food grains will be produced in the state in the year 2022-23.
In the year 2020-21, 130.38 lakh metric tonnes of food grains were produced in the state.
Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Empowerment, Fisheries and Livestock Development Ranendra Pratap Swain expressed his happiness in the context of record production of food grains in the state and also congratulated the farmers brothers and sisters of the state and all the officers and employees of the department.
According to the estimates of 2022-2023, among the total grain production, rice production is 115 lakh metric tonnes, while maize is 8.60 lakh metric tonnes, Mandia is 1.61 lakh metric tonnes, and wheat, millet, millet and other small grains are 28,000 metric tonnes, has been estimated.
Similarly, 10.55 lakh metric tonnes of pulses was produced, including 4.21 lakh MT ‘Moong’, 1.97 lakh MT tonnes ‘biri’, ‘Arahar’ 1.37 lakh MT, ‘Kolatha’ – 91,000 MT, 29,000 MT ‘Matar’, 7,000 MT ‘Masoor’, 68,000 MT beans, and 76,000 MT other forms of lentils and pulses were produced.
