Malkangiri: In a special operation BSF personnel on Saturday recovered an IED from the general area of Sudhakonta-Amapadar in Telarai gram panchayat under MV-79 police limits of Malkangiri district.
According to an official press note issued by BSF headquarters Malkangiri sector, during the operation BSF party located a Steel Tiffin IED (approx 03 ltrs) armed with one Electric Detonator under a tree near a culvert in the connecting road axis from Sudhakonta-Amapadar in the approaching route to uphills of Bejangiwada reserve forest area. The BSF party also seized 20 feet of electric wire from the spot.
The Bomb Disposal Team of the BSF Sector Headquarters Malkangiri demolished the IED at the spot.
Earlier these areas were highly Maoist-infested and Maoist outfit and their sympathisers used to plant IEDs in various probable routes to harm the security forces and police.
The press note said that BSF is actively operating in Malkangiri district along with the Odisha Police to dominate the area extensively.
Recovery of an armed IED during the ongoing Tactical Counter Offensive Campaign (TCOC) would certainly demoralize the Maoist sympathisers active in the area while it will motivate security forces to operate more actively in the region, the press note added.
