Bhubaneswar: Gujarat cadre Odia IAS officer Bidyut Bihari Swain has been appointed as Member, Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).
“The President is pleased to appoint Shri Bidyut Bihari Swain, IAS, (GJ:1988) as Member, Union Public Service Commission (UPSC),” stated an order of the Department of Personnel and Training under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions issued on Monday.
The order said that the tenure of Bidyut Bihari Swain as Member, UPSC will commence from the date he enters upon the office of Member, UPSC.
The term of his appointment will be regulated in accordance with the provisions of Article 316(2) of the Constitution of India and the conditions of service will be governed by UPSC (Members) Regulations 1969, as amended from time to time, the order added.
Swain has held important positions in various departments of the Gujarat government and in different Ministries of the Union government.
He is currently posted as Secretary in the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.
