Bhubaneswar: With the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting no major change in day temperature (maximum temperature) in Odisha for another five days, the state is unlikely to get relief from sweltering heat-wave conditions.
The weather office, however, said people inhabiting the coastal parts of Odisha may get some relief as Nor’wester is likely to occur in the afternoon.
The regional meteorological center has also issued a yellow warning of Nor’wester and thundershower for most of the coastal districts. An orange warning has been issued for Mayurbhanj and Balasore districts.
Similarly, a yellow warning has been issued for all coastal districts on May 19.
The IMD has issued warnings of lightning in Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Bhadrak, Balasore, and Mayurbhanj districts.
People have been advised to remain indoors between 11.00 am and 3.00 pm and take precautionary measures against heat and lightning.
