Bhubaneswar: The State Vigilance on Thursday held a Section Officer posted in the office of Commissioner of Food Safety, Bhubaneswar while he was allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000.
According to the Vigilance, the Section Officer (Girija Shankar Das), had demanded the money from a drugs store owner for changing the name of the pharmacist registered against his shop.
“He assured the complainant to get it done by influencing a staff of Drugs Controller, Bhubaneswar where he was posted earlier.
The entire bribe money has been recovered from the possession of the Das and seized,” the Vigilance stated,
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations in connection with a disproportionate assets angle. In this connection, Bhubaneswar Vigilance has registered a case under Section 7 PC (Amendment) Act.
