Bhubaneswar: The Mahanadi Water Dispute Tribunal begins its 10-day field survey in Odisha on Friday. The members of the tribunal, led by Supreme Court Justice A M Khanwilkar and comprising Patna High Court Justice Dr Ravi Ranjan and Delhi High Court Justice Indermeet Kaur Kochar will reach Hirakud today.
The team conducted its first phase of a five-day field survey in Chhattisgarh and Mahandi basin on April 17 and is now visiting Hirakud for the second round of field visits effort to resolve long-standing disputes over Mahanadi river water sharing between Chhattisgarh and Odisha.
After an important meeting in Hirakud today the team will visit Hirakud Dam and Mahanadi catchment area till May 23. The tribunal will visit Bhubaneswar on May 24. After a day’s rest on May 25, the team plans to visit Naraj, Munduli, Satupa, and Chilika lakes in Cuttack from May 26 to 28.
