Bhubaneswar: On Friday, a former BDO Bhagaban Behera, an ex-Head Clerk Srinath Murmu, a former Auditor Gopal Chandra Mohalik, and another retired Head Clerk Tapas Ranjan Mohanty, who were charge sheeted by Odisha Vigilance, have been convicted in corruption cases.
Special Judge, Vigilance, Baripada convicted Behera, Mohalik, and Mohanty, and sentenced them to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of three years and fine of Rs 10,000 each and in default of payment of fine, to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 months.
The Court further sentenced them to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 years and fine of Rs 5,000 each and in default of payment of fine, to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 1 month. The above sentences are to run concurrently.
The Court also convicted Murmu and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 years and fine of Rs 10,000/- and in default of payment of fine, to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 months.
The Court further sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 years and fine of Rs.5,000 each and in default of payment of fine, to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 1 month each. The above sentences are to run concurrently.
