Bhubaneswar: Life has turned a new leaf in the life of Pramodini Roul, who was attacked with acid at the age of 17 in 2009, as she gave birth to a healthy baby boy recently.
“I am very happy that I have been blessed with a baby which is every woman’s dream. There were a lot of complications and challenges in my life. Now it is time to move on,” said Pramodini.
Pramodini, a native of Jagatsinghpur district, was pursuing her graduation when she was stalked by an Army jawan Santosh Bedanta, 35, for marriage. After her family rejected Santosh’s proposal on the grounds that Pramodini was too young for marriage. Angered over the rejection, Bedanta threw acid on her scarring 80 per cent of her body in 2009. As a result of the acid attack, she was partially paralysed while her face was completely disfigured. She also lost her eyesight.
Pramodini was leading a traumatic life away from the glare of inquisitive people till she met Saroj. Her life became beautiful after she met Saroj at a private nursing home in Cuttack. Gradually, love blossomed between the two souls and they married in 2021.
Recently, her happiness multiplied manifold when she gave birth to a healthy boy.
Pramodini’s motherhood has delighted the netizens and wishes have been pouring in from various quarters.
